Petra Kvitova has defeated Peng Shuai of China in the second round of the Women’s tennis singles tournament of London Olympics. She won the match by 7-5, 2-6, 6-1. With this win, Kvitova has secured a place in the third round. Kvitova, who has been given sixth seed in the competition, had to work hard for this victory. She did well in the first set and won it without having much problem. But, in the second set, his performance was not up to the mark. She lost the second set and it seemed that a big upset is on the cards. But, she came back well in the third set and finished the match in style.

After the match, Kvitova said that she played bad tennis in the second set. She was not able to play her forehand well. As per Kvitova, she was under a bit of pressure before the start of the third set. But, after breaking the service of Peng Shuai in the very first game of the third set, she started to breathe easier. After the first game of the third set, Kvitova didn’t have to face much problem. The Chinese player continuously made mistakes in the third set and lost the match.

Kvitova played some pretty ordinary forehand shots in the match. After the match, Kvitova admitted that she would have to improve her game to win the upcoming matches. On being asked about Peng Shuai, Kvitova said that she is a fantastic young player and she made her work hard for each and every point in the match. But, she was not able to hold her nerves during the third set.

In the third round, Kvitova will play against the Russian superstar Maria Sharapova. Sharapova is a high quality player and Kvitova would have to play out of her skin to defeat Sharapova.
