KVITOVA BACK IN THE NEWS

Wimbledon champion Petra Kvitova is back in the news because of her sudden take off from the Dubai tournament – she has pulled out of the WTA Tournament because of her illness.

Her agent revealed that she has ended up at an emergency department because of having high fever, and is now under twenty-four hour care. After withdrawing from last week’s Qatar classic in Doha because of an Achilles tendon injury, this was her second event in which she has been forced to retire.

It was only in January that she won the Hopman Cup in Perth with compatriot Berdych and also won the semi finals in Sydney as well as the Australian open – she was clearly at the top of her game and looking forwards to playing tennis.

Unfortunatley that run hasn’t continued, and it looks like she’ll miss more tournaments. In a recent interview she said that she feels very bad to be injured, and is missing Dubai. The organizers have not given any details about the injury.

Another player who has been forced to pull out the Dubai tournament is French open winner Li Na because of some injury. 2012 has largely been a year of disappointment for Petra.

Petra always used to say that only if she performs well then can she earn respect from her fans, but her recent injuries have cost her that. Her fans will obviously stick by her, and will no doubt be checking out the tennis odds online to see what chance Kvitova has of playing well in the French Open, and other WTA tournaments.

Hopefully we’ll watch her playing very soon!
